Citizens for Rideable Communities is a grass roots effort by citizens of the City of Port Townsend and the residents of Jefferson County; supported by people from all over the world. After all we do all live on the same planet and decisions on pollution control here affect the entire world.

We support the concept of the Green Transportation Hierarchy for our community and fight for local legislation which will enhance the livability of our community and the world through sound transportation choices.

We wish to reduce our dependency on foreign oil by educating the population and encouraging people to chose alternative forms of transportation whenever possible. In this community we have a very good bus transportation system that chose to use a biodiesel mix in their fuel. We have an extensive system of trails for making your walking commute more enjoyable and shorter. We have bicycle paths and bicycle lanes.

We wish to encourage and increase the use of all forms of alternative transportation.
